THE BASICS
Getting Started
01What is The Doc In The Mix Party Starter?
It is a browser-based remix studio that combines uploaded music into one continuous party mix. It can blend as many as four songs over a fixed master clock, keep a separate instrumental running underneath, sync an acapella, add DJ effects and export the finished result.
02How many songs can I use in one party mashup?
You can load up to four songs into the numbered song decks. The mixer arranges them in deck order and brings each one into the shared tempo grid.
03Can I make a mix with only one or two songs?
Yes. One song can be transformed into a party edit, and two songs can become a compact mashup. Empty decks are simply ignored when the mix is built.
04What is the quickest way to build my first mix?
Upload your songs in the order you want them heard, let analysis finish, choose a master BPM and output length, then select a flavor and press the build button. Preview the result before downloading it.
05Do I need an account or an app installation?
No. The mixer runs directly in a modern web browser and does not require a Party Starter account or software installation.
06Can I use the mixer on a phone or tablet?
Yes, although long mixes and several large audio files work best on a newer device with free memory. Keep the browser tab open and the screen awake while it is rendering.
07What output lengths can I choose?
The party mixer offers a natural-length option plus 4-, 6- and 8-minute targets. Eight minutes is the maximum party-remix target; the separate Broadcast Mixer handles longer 15-, 30- and 60-minute programs.
08Will my mix sound like one continuous song?
That is the design goal. Every active song follows one master clock, and transitions are aligned to musical bars so the energy can continue without a sudden tempo jump.
09What is the difference between Party Remix and Broadcast Mixer?
Party Remix is a creative mashup with tempo matching, chopping, scratches, drops, transition effects, a locked beat and optional DJ tags. Broadcast Mixer plays chosen songs completely through with clean crossfades and optional recorded talk-ins, without remix effects or tempo changes.
LOAD YOUR MUSIC
Audio Files & Song Decks
10Which audio file types can I upload?
The song decks, locked instrumental, acapella and DJ tag accept MP3 and WAV files. Use a clean source file for the strongest analysis and final sound.
11What is the maximum upload size?
A regular music file can be up to 350 MB. DJ tag files use a smaller 50 MB limit because tags are short identification clips.
12How long can an individual song be?
Each uploaded track can be up to 20 minutes long. For the party mixer, shorter standard song versions usually analyze and render faster.
13Are there limits on the combined audio?
Yes. The uploaded song decks can total up to 24 minutes, and the combined songs, locked beat and vocal can total up to 36 minutes. These limits keep browser processing stable.
14Does song order matter?
Yes. Deck 1 starts the main sequence, followed by Decks 2, 3 and 4. Load songs in the story or energy order you want before building.
15Can I replace or remove a song after uploading it?
Yes. Use the controls on that deck to replace or remove its file. Build the mix again after changing any source so the timing and score are recalculated.
16Can I preview my files before building?
Yes. Use the player attached to an uploaded item to check that you selected the right version and that its level and recording quality are usable.
17Why does analysis take longer on some songs?
Long files, compressed recordings, live music and tracks with soft or unusual drums require more work to estimate timing. Device speed and available memory also affect analysis time.
18Can the mixer repair a distorted or low-quality recording?
No. The mixer can balance, align and combine audio, but it cannot restore detail already lost to clipping, noise or heavy compression. Start with the best legal source you have.
KEEP THE FLOOR MOVING
Tempo & Danceability
19How does the mixer beat-match different songs?
It estimates each song’s tempo, maps it to a 4/4 beat grid and time-stretches the active parts to one fixed master BPM. Transitions are scheduled on musical bar boundaries rather than free-running clocks.
20What is the master BPM?
The master BPM is the single tempo shared by the entire party mix. Songs, synced vocals, transitions and scratch timing reference that same clock.
21Why should the mix no longer speed up after I add a third or fourth song?
The engine uses one frozen master timeline instead of chaining each new song’s timing to the previous track. Adding another deck increases source material, but it should not compound the playback rate or create a tempo ramp.
22What BPM range can I set?
You can set the master tempo from 55 to 200 BPM. For natural results, choose a value reasonably close to the source songs or use songs whose rhythmic feel is compatible.
23What if automatic BPM detection is wrong?
Enter the known BPM manually before rebuilding. A track detected at half-time or double-time may need a value such as 70 instead of 140, or the reverse, depending on the groove you want.
24What do 8, 16 and 32 bars mean?
They control the average musical phrase length used before the next major section or transition. Longer 32-bar sections let more of each song play; 8-bar sections create a quicker, more active edit.
25What does Dance Floor Lock do?
Dance Floor Lock reinforces 4/4 downbeat alignment so major changes land on the first beat of a bar. This reduces awkward entrances and helps dancers feel a predictable pulse.
26What does the Mix Success percentage mean?
It is an estimate of how likely the selected ingredients are to produce a clean, danceable mix. The score considers factors such as source availability, tempo relationships and chosen components; it is guidance, not a guarantee of musical taste.
27Can every group of songs make a flawless dance mix?
No automatic mixer can guarantee that unrelated melodies, keys, rhythms and vocal phrasing will fit perfectly. The best results come from songs with compatible grooves, clear drums, similar energy and reasonable tempo changes.
SHAPE THE ENERGY
Remix Sound & Effects
28What are Gulf Chop flavors?
Flavors are preset combinations that change the mix’s energy, edit density and transition character. Choose the one closest to the room you are programming, then fine-tune individual controls.
29Which transition sound effects are available?
The transition bank includes explosion, high-pitch scratch, laughter, applause, siren and air horn effects. The mixer places enabled effects around selected transition points.
30Are transition effects added randomly?
They are varied among eligible transitions so the same sound does not have to repeat every time. Placement still follows transition timing; the randomness changes the accent, not the master beat.
31Why can I barely hear the sound effects?
Raise the transition FX level and use the preview control to confirm the selected sound. If the music is very loud or dense, reduce other layers slightly so short effects have room.
32Which scratch styles can I use?
The scratch section includes Baby, Transformer, Spinback, Chirp, Flare, Crab, Orbit, Tear and Drag styles. Each has a different rhythm and motion.
33Can I use more than one scratch pattern?
Yes. Select up to three patterns and the mixer can rotate them through eligible moments instead of repeating one scratch across the entire remix.
34What do the chop, bass and beat-drop controls change?
Chop changes how aggressively musical phrases are cut and repeated, bass changes low-frequency weight, and beat drops create controlled energy breaks and returns. Higher settings create a more dramatic edit.
35What should I do if the mix sounds too busy?
Reduce chop intensity, use fewer scratch patterns, lower transition FX and choose longer song sections. A strong mix often leaves space for the song and locked beat to do most of the work.
36How are transitions made to feel continuous?
The mixer overlaps compatible sections, places changes on the shared beat grid and uses the locked instrumental as an optional rhythmic bridge. Longer phrases and moderate effects usually create the smoothest flow.
ONE SHARED CLOCK
Locked Beat & Acapella
37What is the locked instrumental track?
It is a separate beat that runs continuously beneath the party mix as a steady rhythmic foundation. It uses the master clock and is protected from song-deck chopping and random transition edits.
38How can I load a locked beat?
Upload your own MP3 or WAV in the Instrumental Lock-In area, or sample one of the 25 Platinum Vault beats and load it into that slot. Always make sure you have the right to use the audio.
39How do I stop the other tracks from drowning out the beat?
Raise the locked-beat volume control and, if needed, lower the song or vocal layers. Preview at the same device volume you will use for playback so the balance is meaningful.
40Will scratches and remix effects change the locked beat?
No. The instrumental is designed to remain continuous and is mixed as its own protected layer. Effects can play around it, but they do not chop or restart the locked beat.
41How does acapella beat sync work?
The vocal is mapped to the same master clock used by its instrumental, then time-aligned so it does not run on an independent timer. For best results, use a clean acapella with little silence at the beginning and enter accurate tempo information.
42What does Verse & Chorus Beat Sync do?
It treats vocal passages as musical phrases, inserts counted space where needed and aims each verse or chorus re-entry at a downbeat. Turn it on when a continuous vocal drifts into the wrong part of the instrumental arrangement.
43Why are pauses sometimes added between vocal sections?
The pause preserves phrase alignment. Instead of letting a verse or chorus enter midway through a bar, the engine waits a counted number of beats and returns the vocal at a stronger musical boundary.
44What should I do if the acapella is still slightly off beat?
Confirm the instrumental BPM, enable Verse & Chorus Beat Sync, then use the timing nudge in small sixteenth-beat steps. A vocal with pickup words before beat one may need a deliberate early nudge.
45Can I make a mix with only a beat and an acapella?
Yes. You can build from a locked instrumental and synced vocal without loading a song deck. The pair shares the same 0:00 origin and master clock.
EXPORT & GO ON AIR
Downloads & Radio Sets
55How do I open the Broadcast Mixer?
Go to the bottom of the main mixer and press Get Broadcast Ready. The folded radio section will expand with its playlist, set-length, crossfade and talk-in controls.
56Which radio-set lengths can I choose?
You can target a 15-, 30- or 60-minute program. The target helps plan the set, but the finished file can run longer so the final selected song is not cut off.
57Does the Broadcast Mixer play every song completely?
Yes. It is designed like a clean radio program: selected tracks play through, with overlaps only where the crossfade joins one song to the next.
58Which crossfade lengths are available?
Choose a 4-, 6- or 8-second crossfade. Short fades are tighter; longer fades sound smoother when adjacent songs have compatible intros and endings.
59Will the radio set contain random effects or tempo changes?
No. The Broadcast Mixer keeps the source songs at their original tempo and does not add scratches, explosions, random effects or Party Remix DJ tags.
60Can I record talk-ins inside the app?
Yes. Allow microphone access in the Broadcast Mixer, record your introduction, station break or announcement, then add the take to the program.
61What does Professional Radio mic mode do?
It applies voice-focused noise control, warm EQ, presence, level balancing and peak limiting, with 48 kHz capture when supported. A quiet room and a microphone placed slightly off-axis still make the biggest difference.
62Can I reorder recorded talk-ins?
Yes. Arrange the talk-ins in the order you want them to appear before building the set. Preview each take and remove unwanted recordings first.
63Can I download the entire broadcast?
Yes. After the program finishes rendering, use Download Full Broadcast MP3 to save the complete set—including its songs, crossfades and chosen talk-ins—as one 192 kbps MP3.
SAFE & SMOOTH OPERATION
Privacy, Rights & Troubleshooting
64Are my songs uploaded to a server?
No. Audio processing happens privately in your browser on your device. Your selected song files are not uploaded by the Party Starter.
65Will my unfinished session be saved after I close the page?
No. Reloading or closing the page clears the current in-browser working session. Download finished audio you want to keep before leaving.
66Do I need permission to use the songs and recordings?
Yes. Use only music, beats, vocals, tags and talk-ins you own or have permission to reproduce, remix and distribute. The tool does not grant music, sample, performance or broadcast rights.
67Which browsers work best?
Use a current version of Chrome, Edge or Safari. Browser audio and microphone support can differ, so update the browser and allow audio or microphone permissions when prompted.
68Why is the build button disabled?
Wait for file analysis to finish and confirm that a valid source is loaded. A standard party mashup needs at least one song, while a stem-based mix can use a locked beat plus acapella.
69Why do I hear no sound in the preview?
Check the device output, browser-tab mute setting and the relevant layer volume. On some phones, press the player once after the page loads so the browser permits audio playback.
70Why was my file rejected?
Confirm that it is a valid MP3 or WAV and is within the displayed duration and size limits. Renaming an unsupported file extension does not convert the audio; export it properly from an audio editor.
71What should I do if rendering is slow or fails?
Close memory-heavy tabs, keep this page in the foreground, shorten oversized sources and try again. If the device is low on memory, use fewer tracks or render on a newer desktop or laptop.
72Can I use a finished set for a podcast or broadcast?
The app provides a downloadable full-program MP3, but you are responsible for all required permissions, licenses, reporting and platform rules. Check the requirements for every song and territory before publishing or airing it.
